SPRING FARM TOUR & TASTING DATES
First thing first....we want to remind everyone about our Spring Tour Line Up and we hope that if you are a new mailing list subscriber or have been thinking about signing up for one of our wonderful Live Animal Custom Beef Shares, you will SIGN UP and come on out and join us to learn more and see for yourself what we are all about!
Or it could be you are already a Custom Beef Shareholder and have never gotten to make it out for a Farm Tour yet and you have been wanting to...please take hold of the perfect opportunity, especially if you do not think you will be able to make it to the custom beef shareholder Spring Fair, Preview Day.
Our first up and coming Farm Tour is just around the corner and will be this Saturday, April the 5th from 2-4 pm. The weather is to be abnormally warm, in the upper 80's and not raining so that makes for a wonderful early spring tour day!
If you are already a Custom Beef Shareholder and have placed an Order for the 2025-2026 custom beef season, you can bypass the farm tours because you are invited to join us for our first annual Exclusive Shareholder Spring Fair, Preview Day. Please keep the weekend of April 25th, 26th, 27th open and on your calendars. As we get closer to the date, we will narrow down to one of these dates based on weather and animal rotations.
Spring does seem to have arrived, but very slowly this year. Impart due to the real winter season that consisted of consistent freezing winter temperatures, to the lack of precipitation in the last weeks of winter and early spring, and to the unknown seasonal beauty that makes every years seasons unique and magical. Grasses and wild spring growth seem to be a little behind this year from an observational standpoint.
The end of season dryness though we hope has taken a new leaf as spring rains are becoming the new and desired norm. We had our best soak of 1.2" on the last day of March and it appears that we have a wonderful chance of getting another wonderful soaking this weekend on Sunday. Rains mixed with this added warmth really will amplify the warming of the soil and its living biome to create the marvelous blanket of living green that we here at Foothill Frolic Farm can never get enough of! Brilliant fresh and lime green hues, shimmering amidst the sunshine and breezes of the East TN landscape, with cattle dotted within, always brings about such a feeling of positive and renewing energy. Sunlight, Soil, Bacteria & Fungus, Water, Insects, Grass, Tree, Bird, Cattle, Human....Ten broad and simple components within a renewable, organic closed system cycle....CARING, NOURISHING, and FEEDING!
All of our herds are gently starting their quick and broad spring rotations and we are all happy about that.
Currently we are awaiting our main cow herd's seasonal show of spring calving. Each year we have managed our main cow herd to calf one week later, with hopes of not calving till the first day of spring. Well this year we made a 2-3 week jump, and not intentionally per se. So any day now we are hoping for calves to start popping out left and right, from up to down and all a round. If all goes well we are hoping for our Mamma's to birth about 58 spring calves and 10 fall calves.
A Slider of Photos of just a glimpse of our expecting Mamma's...Dot Spot, Swiss Girl, Milkseed, Crossing Khaki, Sweet Gallienne, Birthday Snowfall, Bhrama Mamma 20, Twin Mamma, Morning Glory, First of Fall Rambler Mamma, Spring, L12, Dazzle Dash, Lickidisplit Mamma, Garden Call, Lovely Lady L10, High Tail, Black Joy, and Gemima May
